On a suggestion that our families get together over lunch, we picked a Saturday and my sister chose Noodles and Company at the Oak Park Mall. I was familiar with the name, but not much else. I had originally thought they were a strictly Asian cuisine kind of place, but much to my delight they offer more than just Asian fare. Actually, a more accurate name would be Pasta and Company, or Macaroni and Company, since they offer Mediterranean (mostly Italian) and American dishes that have some kind of pasta or noodle as part of the dish. They do also have sandwiches and salads for those who frown on the whole pasta thing. To give you an idea of the variety, my daughter, much to our surprise, ordered the spaghetti and meatballs. My oldest niece went for the macaroni and cheese this time. My youngest niece ordered a buttered noodles dish. I chose a Mediterranean penne pasta dish with pesto. My wife and sister chose different featured salads, and my brother-in-law ordered one of their Asian noodle delicacies. I opted for a combo that came with a side salad. All of the entrees looked good, smelled good and tasted good. The portions were plentiful. I guess if I was going to place any negatives it would be the prices are a tad higher than you may want to spend (think Panera over Subway, but again, the portions are generous) and the seating is rather limited on-site, so either get there early or be prepared to take it with you. The noise level can be a little on the high side. But they do offer some seating outside, as well.

Had lunch (Mushroom Stroganoff noodles) here while visiting the area over Thanksgiving. My dish was good; DH had spaghetti and meatballs and said they were okay. Best-looking dish at the table was the Thai Curry Soup my Sis-in-law ordered. Next time I plan to try one of their Asian dishes to see if they have a little more flavor and kick.

This is one of my frequent places to eat b/c of the freshness & taste of the food. I tried the new Buff bowl - spinach instead of noodles with double veggies & a protein. Ordered my favorite Tuscan Fresca. I wasn't asked if I wanted feta or parm & I would have ordered feta. It was very fresh & hot as everything I get here. My main complaint is they now have 2 sizes & it seems as it is more expensive if I get a protein with my dish. I will continue to come here but may not ordered a dish with protein. I recommend the Mac & cheese, buttered noodles, & pad Thai and of course the Tuscan fresca - these are all my favs!

Free birthday noodles!!!! My girlfriend and I split a side salad of cucumbers and tomatoes & a bowl of the Bangkok Curry with shrimp. The cucumber and tomato salad was fresh and flavorful, and the bowl of Bangkok Curry was a huge, well-seasoned portion of noodles and shrimp. Noodles & Company is an ok place for a quick bite to eat. They provide a good choice of healthier options and a free entrée & side for your birthday is a pretty sweet deal. Check them out next time you're hungry and at the mall.

I'm officially confused by this place it's like fast food but not. You walk in and order if you eat in you are served with real plates and silverware. The food was good... not great enough for me to say OMG their food was amazing I can't wait to go back. But they did raise my curiosity enough to where I do plan to go back to try something new. I had the phad thi and it was good and my boyfriend had the stroganoff, and said it was really good. He did have to add a little salt to get really good flavor. Will be back to try something new.

I've had good and I've had just okay here. Today was just okay. I had the Pad Thai, and added steak. (I needed some red meat in my life) The noodles were flavorful, but a little dry. The steak tasted reminiscent of "meat" that one would prepare by boiling it in the bag. I know every dish is prepared to order, but the flavors today really didn't taste bright and fresh like I would have expected them too. I really like the menu here. I used to be really into this place when I worked on the opposite end of 95th St. I'll be back, but after today it is difficult to say when.

Granted I'm having a really late lunch, however I don't think food quality should be worse than at normal eating hours. I've been here before, but this was the worst Pad Thai I've ever had; very flavorless. I also got a "side" of curry soup, and it might as well have been served in a thimble.

The food is good and the portions are solid for what you're paying. I like the variety but lean towards the Asian section of the menu. The kid likes the mac and cheese with grilled chicken. (When I say "kid" and reference mac and cheese you'd think I'm talking about a 6 year old but alas, that's my college freshman!) Order a fountain drink and entertain yourself with the soda machine, more options than one human could possibly sample! The service was plenty friendly at the counter on this trip but the dining room was desperately in need of attention while 2 employees spent their time chatting and rolling silverware. Otherwise, it's a solid 3-star establishment.

So, I thought that we only had Noodles down at 135th and Metcalf, but I noticed this one at Oak Park some time ago and wasted no time in scheduling a business lunch there. As is always the case at Noodles: fast service, friendly staff, delicious food. Keeping the high "fast-casual" standard that they helped set, along with Chipotle and Pei Wei.

Meh. I went with a friend to do a Craigslist deal and we stopped here afterwords. I wasn't the one driving or I would've chosen something different (like the Five Guys next door - much to my arteries' dismay I love greasy burgers!). First impression of this location was: "it smells kind of weird in here." Second impression : "Yes! A soda machine with a million options." (I love ginger ale) Third impression was "dang, that food came so fast" (obviously not prepared fresh). Overall it was a mediocre experience (this is only the second time in 5 or 6 years that I've been to a Noodles and Company) Why pay 10 bucks for a pasta or noodle dish that I could easily make at home?

Great service! They were extremely busy with it being the beginning of the hectic Christmas shopping season. The food came out quick an the food runner was very nice. My chicken was a little under cooked but the food otherwise was great! Penne Rosa is a great choice!

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
